Dark Road to Darjeeling by Deanna Raybourn

Love this author...new book coming soon.

There is Peace Today

There is a feeling that all is right in the world. As I glance out the window and see DH sitting in a chair, in the sun, by the pool, in his blue jeans (which he never wears), talking on the phone with his buddy, I feel thankful. When he is at peace, then I am at peace. He rarely slows down and when he does, he glows. This year will be our 25th anniversary and I am more in love with him now than ever. I am grateful today.

Yearly Savannah Trip

We're staying in a brand new hotel in Savannah this year. Usually we either stay at the 'Mansion on Forsyth' or the 'East Bay Inn' on the Savannah riverfront. This year Kessler hotels who owns 'Mansion on Forsyth' opened the 'Bohemian Hotel' on West Bay on the riverfront. Instead of heading down to Amelia Island, we are going to drive up to Charleston for our Savannah's first visit. I was 8 months pregnant the last time we were in Charleston. This Fall I read Pat Conroy's latest book that is based in Charleston. I may need to read it again...it was excellent.

Liberty of London at Target...Soon!

Liberty of London arrives at Target March 14! They have the most beautiful prints in the softest cotton. Some of the most beautiful dresses I smocked for Savannah were of Liberty fabric. The store in London is located in a magnificent Tudor building with gorgeous treasures inside. Lovely, Lovely! Right here in the USA!

A Few Favorite Quotes

"'Tis the good reader that makes the good book;
in every book he finds passages which seem
confidences or asides hidden from all else and
unmistakably meant for his ear; the profit of books
is according to the sensibility of the reader; the
profoundest thought or passion sleeps as in a mine,
until it is discovered by an equal mind and heart."
                                               Ralph Waldo Emerson

"There is no duty we so much as underrate
as the duty of being happy."
                                         Robert Louis Stevenson

"Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm."
                                         Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Life is short but there is always time for courtesy."
                                          Ralph Waldo Emerson

"The happiness of life is made up of minute
fractions--the little soon forgotten charities
of a kiss or smile, a kind look, a heartfelt compliment,
and the countless infinitesimals
of pleasurable and genial feeling."
                                              Samuel Taylor Coleridge

"Happy the man, and happy he alone,
    He who can call today his own;
He who, secure within, can say,
Tomorrow, do thy worst, for I have liv'd today."
                                       John Dryden

Out with the Cold, In with the Blooms

I know, I know...it has been a while since I blogged. Dear sis called the other night just to ask what was up? I was just taking a little respite...but now I am back! I am soooo happy February has passed and we are closer to Spring! Today we have had sunshine and it is a very welcome visitor.

I have had a bit of Spring fever and have been putting away, clearing out and setting new things out. This is when I like to change the Winter look...blankets on sofas, darker colors, change out art work, brighter pillows, etc.... Today I went ahead and set out a few rabbits and birds since we will be seeing more of them very soon.

We have been busy, busy this Winter with school activities, teaching Bible school, shopping for Prom dresses and have had an extremely busy few months at the furniture store. We are very thankful for all our blessings that have been bestowed upon us.

Anywho...you know what it means when it starts warming up? It's time to travel! We will be coming and going quite a bit this year. DH will be working and popping in on the trips when he can get away. I have missed him sooo much with his 14 hour days with only Sunday off....he is ready for a break too.

We have had a very memorable year of snow this year and it has been lots of fun to wake up and see the beauty in creation. But now it's time for rebirth...time for the daffodils, hyacinth and gardens to awaken! It's time to get outside, take a walk, swing on the porch swing, catch up with the neighbors while they are also puttering in the garden and visit with family. Out with the cold, in with the blooms!
