Sisters Yearly Traditional Trip

Once a year my best friend and I take a girls only trip. No husbands, no kids, just the two of us. Oh, my best friend is also my precious only sister Leslie. We live in different states and miss each other terribly, so we look forward to our sisters trip every year.

We have been all over the country, from Santa Barbara to New York. And each trip has been special in its own way. We catch up on all things that we have been dying to tell each other. Les and I tell each other everything, keep each others secrets, usually have one argument and laugh until our make-up comes off and our bellys hurt.

Well this coming weekend we meet up in Portland, Maine and drive to the coast and catch a boat for the beautiful island of Monhegan. It is located ten miles off the Maine coast and is a slice of heaven. No cars, very few people and not a lot to do except BE. We are taking our paints, journals, cameras, hiking boots and books. This beautiful island sits in the middle of the Atlantic ocean with a population year round of about 65 people. No cars. No paved roads. Les and I are packing in our back packs. DH says he has no interest whatsoever going here and likes that we are not going to New York again. That one hurt the wallet for a while. Perfect for me and Les!!  Four nights of peace, quiet, conversation, beauty, family and laughter...it doesn't get any better than that.

...more pictures to come!

Not sure how you happened by my journaling blog, but thankyou for 'following'. I looked up your profile and it seems we both like the same films. I;ll read back on your blog postings so as to find out a little more about you and apologize for contacting you via your blog - my laptop is set up in such a way that I cannot email from it (only from my office computer) and I only get into blog land of an evening. Good to say hello anyway. Ann from England.
