Blessed Assurance

Today in worship our song leader Chris, who is home from college, led some incredible songs! But when he led 'Blessed Assurance', it was like the entire congregation was truly listening and truly believing the words as we sang them.  I had tears in my eyes when it finished and DH said he teared up too.  Words, hope, and promises like that are what help me make it through the day.

Blessed assurance, Jesus is  mine!
O what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
born of his Spirit, washed in his blood.

Refrain:
This is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long;
this is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long.

Perfect submission, perfect delight,
visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
angels descending bring from above
echoes of mercy, whispers of love.
(Refrain)

Perfect submission, all is at rest;
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
watching and waiting, looking above,
filled with his goodness, lost in his love.
(Refrain)

Wow! The author of the hymn, Fanny Crosby, who was blind, is said to have written approximately 8000 hymns.  She said, "With sight I would have been too distracted to have written thousands of hymns."  Now that is real faith.

That is one of the things I really miss is the singing! It was wonderful!
